Fannie Mae was founded in the year 1938. The company has been operational for 81 years now. The former name of the company was the Federal National Mortgage Association. The main aim of the company was to provide banks with the federal money to allow more home loans to be given, to the citizens of the USA. The company was taken over by the Housing and Home Finance Agency in the year 1950.
