Vmware was founded in the year 1998. The company has been operational for almost more than 20 years now. The founders of the company were Edouard Bugnion, Diane Greene, Scott Devine, Mendel Rosenblum and Ellen Wang. The company in its first year of operations operated in secret mode along with 20 employees. In the year 1999, the company was launched at the DEMO event, which was organised by Chris Shipley. The product released by the company was the VMware Workstation. The company had entered the server industry, along with the VMware GSX Server, which was hosted and the VMware ESX Server, which was hostless. Then in the year 2003, the company had launched vMotion, VMware Virtual Centre and also the Virtual SMP Technology. The following year the company had released the support for 64-bit.
