WeatherTech was founded by David MacNeil in 1989, who started the business out of sheer necessity. When the company was founded, according to the CEO of WeatherTech, the quality of hardware equipment was really miserable and job opportunities were very scarce, so he established a business to manufacture custom-fit mats.
