BB&T History
Bb&T was founded in the year 1872. The company has been operational for almost 147 years now. The founders of the company were Thomas Jefferson Hadley and Alpheus Branch. The former name of the company was Branch and Hadley Merchant Bank. Due to the increase in the number of overall transactions, Alpheus Branch had bought out the remaining shares of Thomas Jefferson Hadley, and therefore the company was named to be Branch and Company Bankers. The name of the company was later again changed to Branch Banking and Trust Company. In the year 1893, Alpheus Branch had passed away.
