Peet’s Coffee & Tea was founded in the year 1966. The company has been active for almost 53 years now. The founder of the company was Alfred Peet. The first store of the company was established in Berkeley, California, USA. The company grew to four locations and became known as Peet’s Coffee and Tea. In the year 1979, the company was sold to Sal Bonavita. In the year 1984, Jerry Baldwin, who was a Starbucks founder, had bought Peet’s four locations from Sal Bonavita as well. As of the year 1987, Baldwin and his Starbucks co-investors had sold Starbucks to focus on Peet’s. As of the year 2001, the company was incorporated as Peet’s Coffee and Tea Company and the company was also transformed into a public limited entity as well.
